What is shoulder instability?

Shoulder instability is an umbrella term for a range of shoulder issues including dislocation, subluxation, and other disorders of the joint. This condition typically presents itself after the shoulder area has endured severe trauma and the tendons and ligaments within have been torn, detached, or damaged.

What are the symptoms of shoulder instability?

Signs of shoulder instability include the shoulder slipping out of the socket, which is accompanied by sharp pain and typically takes place during lifting or pulling heavy objects, playing sports, or trying to grab something behind the body.

What is our treatment for shoulder instability?

The way we treat shoulder instability is by first assessing how much damage you have sustained and then determining which types of strengthening exercises suit you best. Over time we will progress your strengthening exercises to functional movements to get you back to lifting and moving in normal range.
