Herniated Disc What is a herniated disc? A herniated disc occur when the disc’s soft, squishy center spills out into the exterior of the cushion, causing pain and irritation to the nerves in the spine. What are the symptoms of herniated discs? Depending on the location of injury, you may experience all or none of the usual symptoms. Most patients experience numbness, weakness, irritation, and pain. If the herniated disc is not in direct contact with any nerves, you may not even know you have this condition at all. How do we treat herniated discs? We will examine your posture to determine how you sit and move, to get to the heart of your back problems. We will also look for any compensation patterns that may point to pressure and stress being placed on other parts of the body. Once we identify the root cause of your injury, we will recommend a series of stretching exercises you can do to improve flexibility in your back and relieve some of the pain and discomfort.
